 Meet our Physiotherapist…..

Emily Wray is a Registered Physiotherapist with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, and a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.  Emily’s main area of interest is the use of hands-on treatment to address chronic/persistent pain, whether it is of soft tissue, articular (joint), or neurological origin.  Her focus is also providing long-term solutions for biomechanical imbalance, weakness and movement disorders that are the cause and contributing factors in chronic/persistent pain.

Emily has extensive experience with neck and shoulder disorders, and low back, hip and knee conditions.

“So often the main factors in chronic/persistent pain are missed.  Soft tissue adhesions and neural tension are often the “culprits” that need to be addressed to reduce pain, and they do not show up on diagnostic tests.  By eliminating these issues with hands-on treatment, and setting up an exercise program to prevent the return of adhesions and neural tension, we are extremely successful in reducing pain.  This is my passion, and it is a joint effort between myself and my client”.  (Emily Wray)

Emily believes that a long-term commitment to fitness, including postural training, core stability, stretching, and cardiovascular exercise, is necessary to achieve and maintain excellent musculoskeletal health.  Emily promotes exercise in her personal and professional life as she believes exercise is imperative for optimal mobility, function and well-being.  Emily played Division 1 soccer in New York State prior to attending the University of Western Ontario.  She is an avid runner who has completed the Toronto marathon, and she also enjoys golf, skiing and hot yoga.

Emily obtained a Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Ontario in 2001, and a Master of Science in Physiotherapy at McMaster University in 2003.  Emily completed her Masters Thesis (her research paper focused on conservative management for shoulder instability), which was later published in the Journal of Hand Therapy.  Emily has taken extensive post-graduate training in manual therapy and exercise therapy with the goal of providing the highest level of care to her clients.  Emily is an acupuncture provider and also casts and dispenses orthotics and orthopaedic shoes.
